a few for daddy

You might recognize this little man because I did a session with him a couple of months ago.  We met up again yesterday for his six month session, and it was so good to see him again!  Here are a few for his daddy, who is traveling.  I know he misses his baby boy, and I’m thinking these just might brighten his day a little!

I love this one and couldn’t decide whether to post it in black & white or color, so I included both . . .

Thanks again mom & dad for the opportunity to photograph your sweet son.  I absolutely LOVE watching these babies grow and documenting all the special milestones in their first year!  I hope everyone has a great week!  Until next time . . .

raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens . . .

. . . bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
brown paper packages tied up with strings
these are a few of my favorite things.

Those really aren’t a few of my favorite things (even though I like the song), but these are!

favs

First, fresh summer fruit is way up on my list these days.  Last night I cut up strawberries and added blueberries, blackberries and red grapes to them.  It was so cold and yummy!  I’ve finally gotten out of my post-vacation slump and gotten back on track eating healthier & exercising.  I bought these and this to help get me motivated to get back on the treadmill, too, and they’ve worked beautifully.  Who knew dri-fit stuff was so wonderful?!?!

Another favorite of mine: Heather Bailey’s Trash Ties.  I just purchased some of these last week, and they are GREAT! They work really well, and they’re super cute.

I just can’t say enough about the next item.  I really liked the fabric that Christina used for the table runners for her wedding reception.  I searched online trying to find the exact material, and I finally came across Anna Maria Horner’s website! Her fabric is just perfect, and I was so excited when I found out that she lives here in Nashville! This is what Christina used, and I think I might just have to purchase some for myself. Brad recently surprised me with furniture for our dining room for our 10th anniversary, so I’m going to make a table runner and some napkins to accessorize! I don’t really know how to sew, but I think I can handle four straight lines . . . maybe?! I’ll let you know how it turns out.  If you’re a Nashvillian and you want to find some of Anna Maria’s fabric, it’s sold here.

Lastly, I wanted to let you in on a fun offer I just heard about.  Glidden is giving away free quarts of paint! You can sign up online and choose your color. The offer is good through July 2nd (or while supplies last), so hurry over to their website! I chose Red Delicious, and I think I’m going to paint a bookshelf to go in my office.

Well, that’s all the eye candy I have for today, BUT you could have your very own eye candy, delivered directly to your door!  Leave a comment, and you’ll be in the drawing for THIS!!! That’s right . . . one lucky blog friend will be the proud owner of this adorable 14 inch pillow cover made out of Anna Maria Horner’s Sketchbook fabric! So go ahead and leave your comment now!  The winner will be announced on Thursday, July 2nd.  Bye!  Bye!

1, 2, 3 . . . as cute as can be!

Saturday morning I got to spend some time with these precious girls.  They are sisters, and they’re some of my little Memphis friends.  They were here visiting family over the weekend, so their mom decided to seize the moment and do a session before big sister starts losing her little baby teeth.  (I can totally identify with her, as my Cole has been walking around wiggling his first loose tooth for the past few days!).  I love that these girls look completely different, but they are both SO beautiful!  Here, see for yourself . . .

To add to the fun, we included their brand new baby cousin!  This little guy had a rough, scary start to life, but he’s doing well now, and he is absolutely adorable!  The girls sang to him to keep him content and happy while I took these, and I thought their Mimi was going to cry (tears of joy, of course!).  Aren’t they sweet together?

He is certainly a little miracle, and I’m thankful that he’s doing so well now.

I hope all of you Nashville clients are surviving the heat!  I’ve had a hard time getting back into the “swing of things” since coming back from vacation.  I wish I was still at the beach!  Somehow the high temperatures seem more bearable when you’re staring out over the ocean!  Have a great rest of the week, and I’ll be back this weekend with some new pictures of this little cutie.

9th Annual Givens Family Beach Vacation

Well, our vacation has come and gone . . . and it was just as fun as it always is!  This is the ninth year that we’ve met up with my family in Gulf Shores for a week of pure fun.  This was our sixth year staying in “Heart of the Sunrise,”  and man, have we made some good memories in that house!  It’s really fun because when we walk in on Saturday, it’s familiar, we all know where our rooms are, and it kind of feels like a home-away-from-home.  Here are just a few snapshots of our time together . . .

And since this post is primarily for our families & just for fun, here are my top ten favorite things about our trip:

1)  Rockin’ out in the car on the way down – karaoke style (this year the featured artists were Mat Kearney, Coldplay & Robert Randolph and the Family Band).

2) Exit 351 off of I-65: Starbucks + Chick-fil-A = perfection

3)  Meeting up with everyone at Cracker Barrel in Greenville, AL for lunch and then caravanning the rest of the way down to the beach.

4)  Crab hunting at night with the kids – flashlights & buckets in hand.

5)  Getting to the house the first day and walking in together – then unloading all our food into the kitchen . . . we like to eat!

6)  Taking four pairs of shoes & them all being flip flops.  I {heart} flip flops . . . a lot!

7)  Our surprise parties for the kids.  Last year was a luau & this year we had a fiesta – complete with a piñata, sombreros & FAJITAS!

8)  Playing Mexican Train until after midnight and laughing hysterically because we’re all so delirious.

9)  Ice cream . . . we eat gallons.  Yes.  Gallons.  Which reminds me that I must get back on the treadmill tomorrow morning . . . ugh!

10)  Having one whole uninterrupted week relaxing with and enjoying some of my most favorite people in the world!
