i love a good pen . . .

. . . and I just found THESE! I used one for the first time today, and I really like it.  Sharpie, by the way, has a fun website . . . who knew? That’s all I have to share. I’ve been tearing up all day thinking about Riley being born 8 years ago and about how MUCH I love him . . . and I’m worn out now! We pulled out his baby album tonight, and we all had so much fun looking through his newborn & first year pictures. He’s getting big, but he’ll always be my baby.  I’m swamped working on the yearbook for my boys’ school this week, but I’ll have some FUN wedding pictures to post after Mike & McKinsey’s wedding on Saturday . . . stay tuned!

happy birthday to riley

**Disclaimer:  If you are not a fan of guns and are opposed to little boys playing with pretend ones, you will probably want to completely bypass this post.  To quote the birthday boy, “I’m just sayin’ . . . “

Riley will be eight years old on Monday, and we celebrated today with an army party (his request of course).  Several of his friends from school came over, and they had so much fun together.  The yucky weather held off, and they were actually able to play in the backyard.  They were decked out in camo, and I can tell you that many battles were fought and much fun was had by all.  They practiced their target shooting, ate some pizza and cake, and Riley got such fun gifts from his friends.  As promised to the grandparents, here are some pictures from the day:

Classic . . . what more can I say?  I love having boys, and these two just bring the biggest smile to my face!  This is what being a little boy is all about . . . .

simply irresistible

I know, I know . . . I’ve been a bad blogger lately.  I’ve kind of thrown “Miscellaneous Mondays” out the window – well, not completely out the window.  I’m just taking a little break from it.  I’ve already blogged a few images from this session, but as I was looking back through them today, I really wanted to share these.  They are just too sweet to keep to myself!

I usually love color images, but I’m gravitating toward black and white for newborns and babies these days.  They just look so timeless and pure.  I love how this little guy looks completely content and at peace resting on his mommy in the last one.

On to news, things are really beginning to ramp up for the Spring around here.  I’m in the middle of booking sessions for March, April & May, and I have a couple of weddings coming up, too!  If you’re interested in a Spring session, contact me to inquire about availability.  I hope you have a great rest of the week.  We’re gearing up for Riley’s birthday party on Saturday . . . pictures to come!  I can’t believe that my baby is going to be EIGHT!  I don’t feel old enough to have an EIGHT year old . . . ack!

and the winner is . . .

{insert drum roll}

. . . Ben & Rebekah Stewart!!!

Congratulations!  You are now the proud owners of a complimentary photo session AND a set of proof prints!

Ben is a booking agent for Shaun Groves, and he travels a lot. Rebekah works at Belmont University and is super crafty. They met while studying music at Eastern Kentucky University, fell in love, and got married. The thing is, they never got engagement pictures, so we’re going to take care of that when we get together for their session!  Congratulations, and I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day!

going to the chapel

I recently had the opportunity to do an engagement session with Mike & McKinsey.  They’re getting married in a couple of weeks, and I’m so excited for them!  I’ll be photographing their wedding, too, so stay tuned for some images from their big day.  We met at Travellers Rest, where their reception will be held.  I had never been there before, but the property is full of history.  Here are a few I liked . . .

Congratulations Mike & McKinsey!  I can’t wait to document the celebration of your wedding day!  Check back tomorrow when I’ll announce the winner of the Valentine’s contest!!!

mommy love

I got to spend some time this morning with this sweet boy & his mommy.  I absolutely ::love:: this image!  It makes my heart do flip flops.  I like it so much that I want to put it on a big canvas and hang it in MY house!  Little man is sooooo handsome, and his mom is just glowing here.  If you look closely, you can see how much she loves him and how proud she is to be his mommy.

I hope you all have a good weekend!  It’s a busy one for us, and I have an engagement session tomorrow afternoon that I’m excited about.  Stay tuned for sneak peeks!

miscellaneous monday (vol. 9)

Happy Monday . . . what little bit is left of it!  I don’t have a ton to say because I’m sleepy and ready to go to bed.  I do, however, have lots of pictures of my recent craftiness.  I’ve mentioned on here before that I get together with a group of ladies once a month to stamp.  We make cards and little gifts and all sorts of fun goodies.  I hosted our group last month and got all inspired.  So this week I drug all my stuff downstairs to play.  My goal was to replenish my supply of cards.  I like to keep some on hand to use throughout the year for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, thank you notes or “just because.”  I also made some really simple gable boxes for Valentine’s Day.  They were made using one piece of solid cardstock, and they’re so easy!  So, for your viewing pleasure . . . here are some pictures.  This is what you see when you come into my dining room right now!

These are the gable boxes that will soon be filled with some sort of fun Valentine’s treat.

And here are the cards.  I’m *really* into embossing right now.  I got a light table for Christmas, so I’ve been doing a lot of dry embossing, too.  FUN STUFF!

The color came out kind of weird in some of these, but you get the idea.  If any of you Nashville girls are interested in getting together and doing this kind of stuff on a monthly basis, shoot me an email and let me know.  I can hook you up with my fabulous friend, Beckie, who’s a Stampin’ Up demonstrator.  I look forward to getting together with my group every month.  It’s a great outlet for me to be with friends and get inspired to be creative.  Okay, I did coffee with friends this morning, and I think I’m all out of words for the day!  I’m off to bed.  I hope you all have a great week!
