*attention clients*

I will be taking some time off next week to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with my family.  I’ll be checking my voicemail and email periodically, so leave me a message if you need to reach me, and I’ll get back in touch with you as soon as possible.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

THE DEADLINE FOR ORDERS is DECEMBER 1st!!!  If you haven’t placed your order and want prints and/or cards for the holidays, you must submit your order by DECEMBER 1st.  This is one of the busiest times of the year for me (and the printing company I use), so this deadline is to ensure that you get what you need when you need it  . . . and also helps me keep my sanity . . . maybe :) .  If you have any questions at all about ordering, please feel free to contact me.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

If you’ve had a session within the past 1.5 weeks and are waiting to see your proofs . . . please know that I’m working hard to get your gallery online.  I’ll be in touch with you very soon to let you know that it is ready.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I’ve been receiving clients’ holiday cards in the mail this week, and I am SO pleased with how they turned out!  I love the idea of sending custom cards, and mine are fully customizable.  If you don’t have yours yet, check out THESE, or THESE, or THESE and place your order by December 1st.  You’ll be glad you did!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Lastly, I’m not sure what I was thinking starting the whole “Miscellaneous Monday” thing during the middle of one of my busiest seasons!  I love the idea and will definitely be picking it back up . . . but it won’t be this Monday because I’ll be on vacation.  So, check back after Thanksgiving, and I’ll see what I can do :) .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I think that’s it for now.  I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  Among many, many things, I am thankful for all of YOU!  You give me the opportunity to do what I love, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know each one of you and your babies, too!  I’ll leave you with this funny poem I came across on a friend’s blog.  This one is for all of you fabulous mamas :) .

May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious,
And your pies take the prize.
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off of your thighs!

a fun time with two princesses

This session definitely goes down in the books as an all-time favorite!  I had a great time with these girls and their mom.  We braved the COLD weather and ended up having such fun together.  First of all, they are beautiful girls, and their mom did a great job picking out their clothes and the location.  We met up at Crockett Park and managed to still find some pretty leaves.  We kicked the leaves, threw the leaves, admired the leaves, and laid in the leaves!  Here is the big sister, and I love her hair!  She loves Cinderella, and this is her Cinderella smile . . .

Little sister has some of the prettiest blue eyes I think I’ve ever seen.  She was so cute trying to do everything that her big sister did!  I have a younger sister, and I can definitely remember those days!  I think we were singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” here.  My poor clients always have to put up with my lousy singing . . . but, hey, I’ll embarrass myself if I have to in order to get a good shot or a smile :) .

And just take a look at their gorgeous mom . . . no wonder they’re such pretty girls!  They have a new addition coming to their family next year, and I know that they will be such sweet sisters to him or her.  Thanks, girls, for such a fun time!  I hope you’ve thawed out by now :) .

miscellaneous mondays (vol. 2) . . .

. . . postponed until Tuesday (hopefully). This is only my second week to try this, and I’m already behind! I was crazy busy today, and I’m off to the airport soon to pick up my hubby! He and some friends of ours have been gone for 10 days to Bogota, Colombia on a mission trip. I’m SO ready to see him! So, because I’m running short on time, I’m postponing this one until later so I can put more thought into it. I’m also working on editing a couple of sessions, so check back soon for sneak peeks from those. Until then . . .

another family session

This is a really sweet family, and they also happen to be our neighbors!  You may recognize these beautiful girls from a previous session.  This time we included their mom & dad . . . and even grandparents!  They were visiting from California, so we let them join in on the fun!  They picked the perfect weekend to visit because the leaves were incredible and definitely at their “peak.”  Here are a few favorites . . .

I must confess that I’m a bit of a blog stalker.  My husband knows this all too well.  He even makes fun of me when he sees me pull up my Google Reader!  [And I'm pretty addicted to Facebook, too.  If you're on there and we're not already friends, look me up!]  I learn a lot about people through their blogs – and being the open and personal girl that I am, I’ve decided to dedicate Mondays to letting you get to know me a little better.  I’m calling it Miscellaneous Mondays because it will probably be a hodgepodge of things . . . right up my alley!  So, check in on Mondays, and I’ll share some of my favorite findings and stories with you.

So for today . . .

First, you must know that I love a wide variety of music, and I really enjoy looking up lyrics and trying to figure out the meaning behind songs.  Songwriting is an artform that I deeply admire.  So, I just got a new CD that I’m enjoying right now.  Jon Foreman is the frontman for Switchfoot, and I recently got to see them perform here in Nashville.  You may be familiar with their song “Dare You to Move,” and I also really like “This is Your Life.”  Jon is an amazing songwriter and performer.  He just released a new album entitled Limbs and Branches that is basically a compilation of songs from 4 EPs he’s done.  It has a very different feel than Switchfoot’s music, and it really surprised me.  I wasn’t too sure about it at first, but after listening to it for the past few days, it feels like a well-worn pair of blue jeans . . . soft and comfortable and like I’ve known the songs forever.  It’s good company for long hours of editing!  If you’re a Switchfoot fan, you should check it out . . . but just know that it’s got a different vibe – a lot more folksy.  I also just bought another CD today, but I’ll wait and share about it next week!

I started reading a new book today that I think is going to be really good.  It’s entitled Faith and Doubt by another John . . . John Ortberg.  I’ve only read the Introduction and part of the first chapter, but it’s really good so far.  I appreciate his honesty and perspective.  Here’s a blurb from the back cover:

“Faith and Doubt.  What if the most important word is the one in the middle? . . . In this refreshingly candid look at a life of faith, he traces the line between belief and unbelief: less a dividing line between hostile camps than a razor’s edge that runs through every soul.  His findings point us toward the relief of being totally honest.”  I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve read more.

.     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .

One more thing that I’m really excited about today . . . I passed by a gas station tonight, and guess what I saw on the sign?  $1.99/gal . . . whoo hoo!!!  Me and my 25 gallon gas guzzler are very excited :) .

we . are . family

I had two family sessions yesterday, and they were both at Percy Warner Park, which was absolutely breathtaking.  The leaves were so beautiful that I really can’t find words to describe them.  Most of them were yellow, but yellow just doesn’t do them justice.  They were much more brilliant than that . . . maybe GOLDEN is the word???  This family was so great and easy-going.  We did some family shots, some of the kids together, and some of the kids individually.  I even managed to get a few of mom and dad by themselves :) .  They are a beautiful family, so my job was easy.

This is definitely a new favorite of mine.  I love the simplicity of it, how her skin seems to glow, and the color of the blanket of leaves on the ground behind her (see, I told you how pretty they were!).  I also love how her sleeves are pulled down over the tops of her hands . . . I do that, too!

This is the oldest sibling of the bunch, and I love her eyes.  I remember being her age and how it’s one of those times in life of “finding” yourself and figuring out who you are.  I hope she’ll always know how beautiful she is.

This girl knows how to work the camera, and I had a hard time deciding which one to share of her!  There were several that I really liked.  She has beautiful skin and brown eyes.  She was a lot of fun to work with and up for whatever I suggested.

This blond-haired, blue-eyed cutie looks like a little princess to me.  She was really patient waiting for her turn to be photographed (so she could finally eat her sucker!).  She has a sweet smile and a sweet spirit to go with it.  And I loved her sweater because green is my *favorite* color :) .

I don’t even know what to say about this little guy.  He’s the only brother of the bunch, and he seems to put up with all those girls pretty well!  He’s just as cute as he can be, and he really likes suckers :) .  He did NOT want to sit still for the family shots (what two-year-olds do???).  Mom mentioned that he could have a sucker when we were done, and he starting grinning and saying “cheese” like he’d never been trying to squirm out of her arms at all!  “Mr. T” is definitely the little prince of the house!

Thanks Adams family for being so great to work with.  I enjoyed meeting you all and getting to know you a little better!  I’ll be in touch soon once your gallery is ready.

little owls

This picture leaves a lot to be desired as far as quality goes, but these little owls are so cute that I just had to share!  I made one similar to this with my Stampin’ Up ladies a few weeks ago.  I thought it was too adorable not to make a few myself.  Well . . . if you know me . . . a few turned into 40!  We made one for each of the boys’ classmates, and they passed them out at their fall parties last Friday.  Cole is really into crafts.  At some point each day, he can be found up in his room with some scissors, glue, construction paper and crayons creating something special.   He, therefore, was very excited about these and enjoyed helping :) .

I was SO bad and didn’t take any pictures Halloween night.  I was worn out from our crazy week – and the 40 owls! – and just didn’t make the effort to document the evening.  The boys were Star Wars characters, which is NO surprise to those of you who know them well.  They had a great time and got pumpkins full of candy!  And without further ado, here’s one of our little owls (oh, and the wings move!) . . .

brotherly love

These brothers were so much fun to hang out with!  The oldest one and my Cole are classmates.  I volunteer at the school on Wednesdays, and for the past month or so, he’s been telling me every week, “You’re going to take pictures of me!”  Well, we finally had our session, and they did SO well!  I told their mom it was one of the easiest sessions I’ve had in a long time.  They just seemed to have a lot of fun, and we even got some sweet ones of them together!  We met at the park beside the school, and it turned out to be a great location with nice open shade, pretty lighting, and even a playground!  Here’s a 20X20 collage I put together with some favorites from the day . . .

On a side note, last week was one of the busiest, craziest weeks I’ve had in a long, long time.  I had LOTS of editing to do, two field trips I had promised the boys to go on, school fall parties to get together, etc.  To top that off, both boys came down with a nasty stomach bug over the weekend.  They’re finally better now, though, so I’m recovering and catching up.  If you’ve emailed me regarding an order or a session in the past few days, I’ll be in touch with you this afternoon or tomorrow.  Thanks so much for your patience.

Now I’m off to VOTE!
