Capturing the [ful]lness of your life,

. . . uh-oh . . .

Hello, folks. I’m mourning the apparent death of my MacBook {sniff, sniff}. Should you need to reach me, please give me a good, old-fashioned phone call until I have everything back up and running. Thank you.

what a way to ring in the new year!

I had my first session of 2010 on Tuesday, and look what I got to smooch on! . . .

Those sweet little toes belong to this precious little boy.

I love these next two of him with his mom & dad.  They love him so much, and it’s evident even by the way they look at him.  See . . .

This is Little Bit, and she must have sensed that I love cats because she came out of hiding to participate in the shoot.  I must say that she’s a very good subject, too!

Ian_blog7I really had a great time with this family.  I always consider it an honor to be invited into a complete stranger’s home to photograph their family.  It’s a privilege I don’t take lightly, and I love walking out the door feeling as if I’ve just made new friends.  There are so many great images from this session, but I thought I’d share these as a little sneak peek for mom & dad while they’re waiting for the gallery.

I’ve been a little MIA from the blog lately because I’ve been working on our adoption blog.  If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check it out at www.dunlapadoption.com. I’ve been working on updating my website a little bit, too, and I’ll be finishing it up in the next few days. All the Capture Photography proceeds from 2010 are going directly toward bringing our little boy home from Ethiopia, so please tell your friends & family about this opportunity to help! Also, check back here in the next day or two for an announcement on a new product.

Thanks again to this sweet family for giving me the opportunity to photograph your sweet boy. I think I’m in love!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas & Happy 2010 from the Dunlaps & Capture Photography!  We have an important announcement to make . . . we’re ADOPTING a little boy from Ethiopia!  If you want to find out more and follow us on our journey to bring him home, visit our adoption blog.

DunlapCard09

I’ve been itching to get our cards out this year, but we had to wait until we announced our adoption in person to our closest friends and family.

We hope you all are continuing to enjoy the holiday season!  Capture Photography will be back in full swing January 5, 2010.  I’ll be making some announcements regarding how YOU can help bring our little boy home at the first of the year, too, so check back soon!

a quick share

I have a full day {again}, but I wanted to share a few images this morning.  This family is dear to me.  I remember the night I found out that they were expecting their little man!  He’ll be a year old before we know it, and I am enjoying watching him master all the “firsts” of the first year.  You’ll also see their first two “babies” . . . Tonka & Walnut!

On a side note, I’m up to my eyeballs in print orders.  If you haven’t gotten yours in, be sure to do so by Thursday, December 10 to ensure delivery in time for the holidays.

texture

I generally like a clean, crisp, bright look to my images.  When I saw these, however, they seemed to have a vintage feel so I added some texture to the background.  I like how they turned out and might start applying this technique to a few images in each gallery.  If you book a session and like this look, but sure to let me know!

we. are. family.

I could go on and on about how much fun I had with this family, but I’m short on time . . . so I’ll let these images speak for themselves.  These girls are sisters, and they wanted to surprise their parents with some pictures for Christmas.  [So, if by some strange chance you know their parents, zip your lips!]  Thanks everybody for a fun time!

[A special shout out to Kyle for being the bag boy.  You did a great job!  I think you should be compensated in some way for your hard work!]

I could eat him with a spoon!

This little boy is sooooo cute, and he has killer eyes!  He kept me on my toes, but I love a good challenge!  I couldn’t be happier with how the images turned out, and I hope his mom and dad love them as much as I do!

Now, I’m not opposed to  bribery every now and then, and this bubble gum lollipop did the trick . . .

I even let him wear my sunglasses.  He’s one cool cat!

Carter5_blogThank you, mom and dad, for giving me the opportunity to photograph your little man.  I think I’m in love!

a couple of quick ones

I’m short on time, but here are a couple of images of a sweet little 4 month old I photographed recently.  Her parents are BIG UT fans, hence the dress.  She rocks it, though!  (And I’ll forgive them for being UT fans because I like them a lot!).

kdg1_blog

Here she is all fancied up in her tutu and frilly headband . . . a true princess!

1 great family + 2 furry friends

This is my friend, Sarah, and her family . . . they’re not afraid to have a little fun!

Laser1_blogLaser2_blog

This is Harvey.  He’s one of the four-legged family members, and he’s a mess!  I love his spunk and how he gets so excited over a good stick!

Laser4_blog

This is Zena.  She’s a good girl, and she’s so pretty, too!  I think she and Harvey both deserve lots of treats for being such fabulous subjects for me!

Sorry to be so short on words, but it’s late & I’m heading to bed!  I’ve got a full day of editing ahead of me for tomorrow, so check back soon for new posts!

I couldn’t help but think . . .

. . . that this will be my son in nine years.  I know.  This post isn’t about me . . . but really???  Nine years???  He’s almost nine now, so he’s halfway there.  Wow.  Okay, moving right along (before this over-tired, emotional mama gets nostalgic) . . .

This is Ben, and he’s really a great guy.  He, like any other senior in high school, probably wasn’t completely thrilled about spending an afternoon in front of my lens.  He was a good sport, though, and I don’t think it was too painful.  He’s a handsome guy, and I hear that he’s pretty good at rugby.  There are a lot of great images from his session, but here are a few favorites.

Ben_blog

Ben, I wish you well as you graduate from high school.  What an exciting time in your life!  I am confident that God has some great things planned for you, and I look forward to hearing about them as you continue on your journey!
